A single centre, self-guided walking along Offas Dyke in the Clwydian Hills in North Wales. 2 nights bed and breakfast farmhouse accommodation, 2 days walking, transport to and from walks as detailed in notes, guide book and maps.

Offas Dyke Path follows the remarkable earthwork built in the late 8th century by Offa, that most powerful of Mercian kings. Intended to mark the boundary and to keep the marauding Welsh in the mountains to the west, it now provides grand views over the surrounding varied and tranquil countryside. From a village nestled into the Clwydian Hills and deep into the North Wales countryside you will walk from the northern terminus of the Offas Dyke Path at Prestatyn back to your guesthouse. The next day you are taken south and walk along the ridge with its stunning views of the North Wales coast and again finish back at the guesthouse.

You follow our routes yourself without a guide. We arrange your accommodation, breakfast, transport to the start of your walk and provide you with marked maps and suggested routes. You will stay for 2 nights at the selected accommodation near Denbigh; the tour starts on the first evening and finishes after a walk on the last day, giving you 2 full days of walking. Just let us know the date you would like to arrive (you start walking the next morning).
You stop in a farmhouse B&B close to the Offas Dyke Long Distance footpath, where accommodation is available in twin, double or single rooms. Most of the rural places used may not have rooms with private facilities (the earlier you book the better choice of rooms we have available to us).

START and FINISH: Near Denbigh in North Wales 10 miles south of Prestatyn. Relax and spend a few days prior to your walk at a hotel in a nearby city.

DAY ONE: Arrival at North Wales guesthouse. You may arrive anytime after 3pm. If requiring dinner this is usually between 7pm - 9pm (not included). Overnight near Denbigh, North Wales.

DAY TWO: Walking from Prestatyn to Sodom. 12 miles and 2,000 feet of ascent. The guesthouse will arrange to drop you at Prestatyn on the North Wales Coast. Moving gradually through the suburbs of the town you rise 600 feet onto the Clwyd hills and a viewpoint. Eventually dropping down to Rhuallt you ascend again and end back at the guesthouse. If requiring dinner this is usually between 7pm - 9pm (not included). Overnight near Denbigh, North Wales.

DAY THREE: Walking from Hendre to Sodom. 9 miles and 1,700 feet of ascent. The guesthouse will arrange to drop you near Hendre. This is an undulating walk, which follows the first part of the long, narrow line of the Clwydian Range. You will walk over the 1500 foot Moel Arthur and then the Iron Age hill-fort of Penycloddiau. You should be back at the guesthouse by 4pm.

GRADE C: Between 9 - 12 miles (14 - 20 kms) a day. Strong waterproof walking boots are desirable. You will start walking about 9:30am and finish at approx. 5pm. These grades are for guidance only. For any grade, depending on weather conditions, it may at times be damp underfoot, so waterproof boots are preferable.
