This Cyprus Walking Experience Nov 10th - 17th 2010 holiday vacation can be booked by individuals but is very suitable for family groups or friends wanting to share a new experience together.
 TOUR DETAILS:
7 night centre based guided walking tour in Cyprus. November 10th - 17th 2010. The price includes flight from Gatwick, dinner, bed & breakfast, en-suite accommodation with air conditioning, packed lunch and transportation where required. 7 nights - 8 days. Greek and international meals served.
Join us, an English speaking guided walking group, in Cyprus for an eight day - seven night walking holiday next to the beautiful warm blue Mediterranean Sea on the north-western coast of Cyprus. The Akamas is a beautiful region of hills, valleys and rocky shores, which are ideal for walking with rich and varied flora and diverse wildlife habitats. The area is well known for the ancient Greek myths such as that of the Goddess of beauty and love, Aphrodite who bathed in a cool pool before her marriage to Adonis at the Baths of Aphrodite. Spring is good time for walking as in the summer it is far too hot to discover the wonders and beauty of this island. You will be staying at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel a three star hotel situated on the beautiful beach near the Akamas forest next to the Mediterranean sea. Facilities of The Aphrodite Beach Hotel include two restaurants, one on the beach and one in the main building, Bar, Sitting room with Satellite TV and large verandas with spectacular view over the whole bay. Greek and international meals served. Food cooked with love makes dining in The Aphrodite Beach Hotel a different experience! The Aphrodite Beach Hotel is becoming very popular for it’s fine cuisine. Mama’s cooking will make you love Cyprus food because it is fresh and pure and she uses local spices like oregano, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, and others. Mousakka, Stifado, Dolmades, Pastitsio, Afelia and of course, fresh fish are some of the recommended dishes. The Aphrodite Beach Hotel produces it’s own fresh fruits (figs, pomegranates oranges, mandarins and lemons) and vegetables (avocados, olives, and seasonable vegetables). Tassos prepares a crispy Baklava as well as Galatopoureko, Kateifi, Lokoumades and Kalon Prama in case you would like to try the fine taste of Cyprus sweets.
This price is based on flights from London Gatwick, full board with a packed lunch and transportation to and from the airport and walks where required. This tour is also available without the flights from Gatwick, please ask.

These are the usual booked overnight stays, walks or rides, we occasionally may have to make a late change, if so, you will be advised ahead of time or at your first guesthouse. The guided tours may be adjusted at the leaders discretion, due to weather and groups ability.
START and FINISH: Gatwick airport is short distance south of London, England.
Relax at a pre-tour hotel in a nearby town.
Sunday November 3rd 2010: Depart Gatwick, Arrive Paphos. Transfer from the airport to overnight at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
Monday November 4th 2010: Pissouromouttis Trail and Neo Chorio. Moderate guided walk 7 miles (11km). Transport takes us to Smigies and we then follow the Pissouromouttis trail to the summit with magnificent 360 degree views across Polis Bay to the north east and the Akamas beaches to the west. Our return route takes us through the interesting village of Neo Chorio and back to the hotel. Overnight at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
Tuesday November 5th 2010: Droushia to Polis Chrysochous. Moderate guided walk. 10 miles (16km). From Droushia we descend to the deserted former Turkish villages of Fasli and Androlykou. We gently climb NW with magnificent views of the coast. The track then drops and zigzags back to our hotel. Overnight at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
Wednesday November 6th 2010: Free Day Free Day Time to explore the island in your own time or our transport takes you on a visit to Paphos. Overnight at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
Thursday November 7th 2010: Baths of Aphrodite to Moutis Sotiras / Cape Arnauti. Moderate guided walk 8 miles (13km). On leaving the hotel we make our way to see the idyllic grotto of the Baths of Aphrodite. This circular route then takes us into the Akamas Forest and onto the summit of Moutis Sotiras,(370m) which is a magnificent viewpoint. We then descend gently to sea level and to the coastal hammerhead of Cape Arnauti. Overnight at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
Friday November 8th 2010: Akamas Forest to Smigies and Peana Fire Lookout. Moderate guided walk 10 miles (16km). We start at the hotel and take an Akamas forest trail to Smiges. On reaching Smigies our path takes us through the forest and we climb to Peana fire station lookout with wonderful views over Lara Bay and beyond. We then return through open countryside, passing the old Agios Minas church. Overnight at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
Saturday November 9th 2010: Droushia to Agios Georgios. Moderate guided walk 10 miles (16km). From Droushia we head towards the village of Kato Arodes and then follow a track, which takes us to the southern arms of the fantastic Kouphon Gorge. You leave the gorge and descend towards the coast with magnificent views of the Lara Peninsula and onto the quiet harbour of Agios Georgios. Overnight at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
Sunday November 10th 2010: Depart from Cyprus. Transport to airport. You can extend your stay in Cyprus if you wish. Book hotel near your departure airport or elsewhere on the island of Cyprus.

 TRAVEL BY TRAIN FROM EUROPE: There is a fast frequent Eurostar rail service to the new Eurostar Terminal at London St Pancras (next to Kings Cross and Euston) from Paris, Bruxelles and Lille. These stations are linked with the rest of mainland europe (France, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Italy). Check Eurostar and TGV across Europe Tickets times and fares by the fast convenient Eurostar. Book your ticket in advance, turn up at the rail station and go! In the time you are waiting at an airport you can be at your destination with much less stress - travel by train. You could even bring your car with you.
START and FINISH: This tour starts with a flight from Gatwick, England to Paphos in Cyprus and ends with a flight from Paphos to Gatwick, England. We will give you full information upon booking.  GRADE and CLOTHING INFORMATION:
This Cyprus Walking Experience Nov 10th - 17th 2010 is Grade D. You can check the tour grade is suitable for you by viewing our Tour Grade page.
GRADE D: Between 6 - 10 miles (9.6 - 16 kms) a day. Strong waterproof walking boots are desirable. You will start walking about 9:30am and finish at approx. 4pm. These grades are for guidance only. For any grade, depending on weather conditions, it may at times be damp underfoot, so waterproof boots are preferable.

The balance must reach us 2 months before the start of the holiday; otherwise we cannot guarantee to hold your booking.
Where bookings are made less than 2 months before the start day of the tour, the full amount is payable at the time of booking. Upon receipt of your confirmation and deposit, I will confirm with the accommodation immediately and normally have a trip fully booked within a week. This will include a Trip Information Sheet specific to your tour; with overnight names, addresses and telephone numbers (similar to the draft trip information sheet on the website). You would need to take out Travel Insurance within 14 days to be fully covered. |

Upon receipt of final payment, which is due 2 months before the tour starts, I will air mail you the maps, notes and a further copy of your trip information sheet. If we do not receive the final payment we will presume you have decided NOT to go-ahead with the tour, and we will therefore cancel the booking.
On some tours the tour package will be available on arrival at your first night's accommodation. |
