Royal Society Protection Birds Gift Membership

Royal Society Protection Birds Gift Membership has helped in the acquisitions of land to retain special places for wildlife including the scenic Labrador Bay in South Devon which will aid a bird called the cirl bunting that has suffered serious decline in this country and Lydden Valley in east Kent where the first stages of an exciting new wetland restoration scheme have begun. Bitterns, secretive birds that live in reedbeds and Red kites, magnificent birds of prey, are now at record levels having once been endangered. The RSPB was also a key force in getting a Marine Bill introduced and a promise of complementary laws to follow in Scotland - which means we can now push for an effective network of protected areas at sea and other measures to help marine wildlife. And many, many more successes.
New memberships and gift memberships can be ordered online and, from just £35 a year, they make fantastic value for money gifts. RSPB Membership is a nature experience that lasts all year round and includes some fabulous benefits including great days out on nature reserves and a magazine four times a year packed with stunning wildlife photography, features, news and views on everything to do with nature and the environment.

From saving special birds and important places, to encouraging people to discover nature, 2007 was an incredible year for the RSPB with many achievements, made possible by our supporters that you have helped find for us. We acquired our 200th nature reserve - Sutton Fen in Norfolk - and witnessed the 200th white-tailed eagle chick fledge in Scotland since re-introduction began in 1975. We also celebrated 40 years of field teaching on our reserves. In that time, we have welcomed hundreds of thousands of children to RSPB sites across the UK. Internationally, projects to save the Sumatran rainforest and the Gola forest also took massive steps forward.
