Overnight: Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England.

Cotswolds river crossing

DAY TWO: A 14 mile (22 km) circular ride called ‘Secret Cotswolds’. This is a hilly route that takes you through some of the quieter Cotswold villages, such as Hailes with its Cistercian abbey. As this is only a short ride it provides plenty of time to enjoy the many attractions and spectacular views you will encounter, and before or after the ride there will be time to explore the ancient town of Winchcombe. The village of Brockhampton is your last chance for a lunch on this ride unless you have packed one, because the route takes you deep into the Cotswold Hills with only the occasional hamlet.  Overnight: Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England.

DAY THREE: An approx. 25 mile (40 km) circular ride called ‘Traditional Cotswolds’. From Winchcombe it is about 4 miles to Toddington on a mainly flat route with occasional climbing. The route takes you through beautiful Cotswold villages where you will find Snowshill Manor, Stanway House, a steam railway and lots of lovely views. About halfway round the route is Broadway which offers a teddy bear museum, specialty shops and a wide variety of restaurants and pubs. But remember you are only halfway, and there is still a lot to see as you return to Winchcombe. Overnight: Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England.

7 nights Cycling England Cotswolds and Severn Vale. Pub garden in the Cotswolds

DAY FOUR: An approx. 20 mile (32 km) Winchcombe to Tewkesbury ride called ‘Cotswold Crafts’. Today you leave Winchcombe for the last time, but don't despair as your next destination is as beautiful if not better. This route has various alternatives depending on how fit you feel, mainly flat with some hilly parts. There are many traditional crafts continued in this area. Look out for the pottery, hand-printed silks and art studios of local craftsmen. With plenty of pretty villages whichever way you go, there are many opportunities for refreshments or lunch. Your ride today ends in Tewkesbury where you will be staying for the next 2 nights.  Overnight:  Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.

7 nights Cycling England Cotswolds and Severn Vale. Tewkesbury Abbey

From Tewkesbury crossing the imposing Mythe Bridge with lovely views over the River Severn, you will come to the first village Forthampton, complete with its stocks and whipping post at the church. If you opt for the longer route, Ashleworth is a good place for your lunch where there are lots of historical buildings including Ashleworth Tithe Barn. Ashleworth Ham is a wetland nature reserve with many species of ducks you may see from the roadside. The Saxon village of Deerhurst has many heritage sites, so take some time here as it is only 4 miles back to Tewkesbury. Overnight:  Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.

DAY SIX: Tewkesbury to Worcester. Distance approx. 20 miles (32 km). Heading out of Tewkesbury there is a choice of routes, all fairly flat taking you to Upton upon Severn. Richard,

Thank you so much for our bike trip through The Great Glen in Scotland!  It was even better than we expected.
We knew it would be great but it turned out to be something me and my wife will never forget.
I have recommended you to many of my friends and hopefully at least one of them will be planning at trip with you next summer.
Thanks again!
